January 2018
Make up by the lovely Leanne and Noleen from Esplendor
Thanks to the always brilliant Carey Dowse and Sophie Arde for assisting on this shoot.
I shot at this beautiful bakery and restaurant before they closed shop. Moema's is now exclusively operating as a catering company. Such passion, creativity and excellence in all they do! Read more below...
During winter 2017 I shot new website pics and a social media image bank for Every Nation Rosebank. What a phenomenal team and a dynamic, inspiring group of leaders behind one of the cities most vibrant, multicultural communities. I worked on a three month contract with their marketing team to revamp their social media accounts (Facebook & Instagram).
If it is organic, grass-fed, or gluten free, I'm interested. So when Kerry from Farm Table opened doors in Linden, I was keen to see what she was stocking and hear her story. A mutual friend connected us and I worked on Kerry's photography, Facebook, and Instagram accounts for a year. We have had such fun. She is a fantastic businesswoman and I love her commitment to getting the best from the farms to our tables. The business is growing beautifully and is a favorite go-to for my family. Our weekly basket contents looks like this: the most delicious kefir from For Goodness, Tinderbox meat, Sculleys gluten-free rusks, and beautiful, organic fruit and veg. Go visit them on 6th Street in Linden and say I sent you!
Nice is like an institution in Jo'burg. In a hood like Parkhurst where restaurants come and go, Nice has proved that it's here to stay. This quaint spot is synonymous with the Egg & Bacon Basket and long ques to get a table on a Sunday morning. When Nice changed ownership in winter 2017, I shot their menu for social media and their new website gallery. Go Taryn and Vix - what a team! Looking forward to many more years of Nice!
When Vivid Water launched in South Africa, Dutch owners and founders Danielle Slief and Arjan Van Zalk approached me to launch the lifestyle image bank for the company. Such a great product - I loved working on this brand. Nothing quite like a chilled, dark chocolate water to curb those late night sugar cravings.
The Pressed Juice Girls - Kelly Kearns and Philly Grundlingh-Miles are some of the nicest humans and clients a girl could wish for. They live the brand and have an amazing team around them - right from kitchen to delivery - there is excitement and energy all over these products. The girls liked what I was doing for Milk Bar (2015/16) and contacted me to shoot for them and take over their social media accounts for a year. We had a blast! Their juice is absolutley delicious and I loved shooting a mix of product, deconstructing the juices, and creating lifestyle imagery for them. The Summer Collection shoot was probably a highlight for me - their cold pressed popsicles and all things poolside made for a vibrant array of images.
I've had the joy of capturing so many familes.
I am passionate about family - I believe that in its fullness, its the cornerstone of everything that's right and true about the world. It's worth cultivating and savoring, nurturing and protecting. It's my absolute best when families come back again, year after year and let me document their story. I love watching love mature and children grow.
Sunel Veldtman is the CEO of Foundation Family Wealth. She is also the author of 'Manage Your Money, Live Your Dreams'. If you've been lucky enough to hear her speak, you know you were in the presence of a dynamic and inspiring woman. I have had the enormous pleasure of working with Sunel for many years now. When she launched her boutique wealth management firm, I met her and her team on a rooftop in downtown Johannesburg to shoot their launch pics. In the last year I have been working on a monthly retainer with Foundation Family Wealth - editing their monthly newsletter, managing their social presence, and shooting their company and event pics.
This African adventure opened her doors in Kramerville, Sandton in 2015. I joined the team in the early days and created content for and managed their social media accounts. Shooting their menu was a treat - incredible African flatbreads and Gin Cocktails ala Inveroche. There's an Ethiopian tradition they've adopted too which involves popcorn with coffee. Love it! I worked on the social media launch and content creation for their Pritchard Street store as well as the trendy art mile location on Keyes Avenue, Rosebank.
What a fantastic company. Such creativity, energy and downright awesome at Andile. I helped them launch their new look site with updated image banks, and have since shot their annual team builder event and am scheduled to shoot their corporate video early 2018. It's a huge honor to be involved with a corporate that has a heart: they don't just say they care about their people - they actually do. The Andile team are vibrant, excited, and genuinely happy to be there. What a breath of fresh air!
When owner and chef Zane Robins approached me to launch her social media accounts and image bank for her new restaurant, That Spot On 4th in Parktown North, I was thrilled. Zane has an eye for detail and is passionate about food - but she gave me free reign to establish a look and feel for the eatery and deli. I loved incorporating the blues and yellows of the decor into the food shots. My images where featured far and wide in magazines, online and in newspapers. I worked on this account for 4 months - from launch in June 2017 to Spring. I had a lot of fun shooting breakfasts and her heavenly waffles.
I've had the joy of photographing these girls for many years. From the marketing shoot for their moms clothing range - Pure Delight, to their family photographs. I have three sisters myself and love capturing something of the bond between best girlfriends. This shoot was a gift from their father to their mother on her birthday. Shot at Delta Park in Craighall in August. Aren't these pre-Spring colors beautiful?
Storm Stocker is a incredibly creative and innovative young entrepreneur. She is a LISOF graduate and MAC makeup artist. She launched her own health and beauty business TakenByStorm and you can subscribe to her channel on YouTube or follow her on Facebook and Instagram for the latest in fashion and beauty. Her makeup tutorials are inspiring! Go Storm! The purpose of this shoot was to update her LinkdIn profile pics.
When Virgin Money South Africa CEO Ingrid Veysie asked me to photograph her new team, I was thrilled. I've been photographing Ingrid and her beautiful daughters for years. This particular shoot served to document the announcement to press of Virgin's insurance venture with AIG. This was a dynamic team to work with and we had loads of fun.
